For about 10 minutes, Twilight watched Spike pluck off flower petals, saying "she loves me" or "she loves me not". Every time it ended with the same thing..."she loves me not".yet, he persisted on trying again, only to no avail. When he finally gave up, he got up and waddled back inside as if nothing happened. Twilight foresaw this and took the position of finishing a book she's already finished 7 times before. Spike forced a little grin on his face to hide a small hint of sadness.
"Hey Spike." Twilight said, closing the book.
"Hey." He replied happily, though full of doubt.
"I picked up some cupcakes with a little extra icing, if that's okay." Twilight said.
"With sprinkles?" He asked, his mouth watering.
"With sprinkles." She replied, opening a box of a dozen cupcakes, covered with chocolate and vanilla icing, and topped with colorful sprinkles.
Almost immediately, Spike forgot his troubles and pounced at the box, happily munching away the cupcakes in 30 seconds flat. Twilight watched as he did so, thinking "It worked."

Only 5 minutes after eating a dozen cupcakes in under a minute did his doubts return. He told Twilight he was going for a walk and would be back soon. He set off for Rarity's boutique. He knocked on the door and waited. When Rarity popped her head out, her face was covered in lotion.
"Oh, hello Spike!" She said.
"Hi, Rarity." He replied, forcing a smile again.
"I'm afraid you've caught me in a bad moment. Please forgive me." She said, rubbing the lotion in.
Spike paused and waited for her to finish. The end result was the beams of light reflecting off of her face. Spike tried to not get mesmerized.
"Um, do you have a moment?" Spike said, scratching his head.
"Hmm...give me moment..." She replied, trotting into the back of the boutique.
Spike waited a good 5 minutes before she returned, looking elegant as ever.
"Okay, NOW I have a moment." She said, opening the door.
Spike walked in and took a seat on a cushion and Rarity sat on her couch.
"What would you like to discuss?" She said, looking Spike directly in the eyes.
He gulped.
"Well...I want to discuss...you." He stammered out.
"Me? Oh, it's my dresses, I know. They're absolutely TERRIBLE, I know." She replied, glancing at a dress on display.
"No. Not that. Like...you-you." Spike said.
She glanced at Spike for a second. He began to twiddle his fingers a bit.
"Can I tell you something? Something...uh...personal?" He managed to squeak out.
"Um...yes. Go ahead." She answered.
"Well...remember when I first came to Ponyville? When we first met? Well, I'm not much for words, but...you were and still are the most beautiful pony I've ever met...you're something else then just a dress maker or whatever the correct word is. You're a beautiful, friendly, and amazing pony. And I know you get that a lot from your friends, but these words...they come from my heart. My feelings for you are so deep that there's no scale to measure it. But what I'm trying to say is...I...r-really...l-l-like you. I l-love you..." Spike admitted.
For 10 seconds they sat in silence, one staring at another.
"But, I'm a dragon and I'm not much in your eyes. So, I thought I'd tell you this..." He said.
Rarity simply blushed.
"So, I'll just see myself ou-" He started but was interrupted with a great feeling...a kiss.
He rolled his eyes towards Rarity, who had just planted a kiss on his cheek. And this time, he allowed himself to blush. A deep red color covered his face. He turned to her and kissed, as well. When they pulled away, they were both blushing.
"I had a feeling you liked me." She whispered, staring into Spike's little eyes.
